Q: What is Mesa Info Booth? A: Mesa Info Booth is a free Java ME (J2ME) application for cell phones and PDAs. With Mesa Info Booth, you can check up-to-date weather information and forecast for your location, read all kinds of news with optional photos, check stock price, market news, and company headlines, look up new words with online dictionary for many languages (e.g. English, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, Arabic, etc.), get movie information and theater showtimes, and sport news and scores. Mesa Info Booth also includes several popular games for you to relax or kill time.
Q: Can it run on my phone? A: Mesa Info Booth is implemented with J2ME CLDC 1.1/MIDP 2.0. Most cell phones sold in the last two years support CLDC 1.1/MIDP 2.0. Check the below table for an incomplete list of cell phones support CLDC 1.1/MIDP 2.0. Note that some Windows Mobile/Pocket PC/Palm PDAs don't come with Java preinstalled. Q: How to download and install it? A: You have two ways to download Mesa Info Booth. If you have a U.S. mobile phone with data plan, you can enter your 10-digit mobile phone number in the page Download. We will send you a text message. Click the web link in the received text message or open the link in the browser to start downloading. The installation will automatically start after downloading. If you are out of U.S. or your phone has no data plan, you can download the JAD and JAR files in the page Download to your computer, upload them to your phone by Bluetooth, IrDA, or USB cable, then install the software by opening the JAD file on the phone.
Q: My phone reports that the software is a untrusted application during installation. What does that mean? Is it safe to install and use Mesa Info Booth? A: Yes, it is safe to install and use Mesa Info Booth. The warning just means that our application is not signed for your phone. Because different phones (or even same phones from different carriers) use different signatures, we are not able to sign our applications for all kinds of mobile phones. It does NOT mean that our application is unsafe for use. And there are no effects for you to use our applications.
Q: I cannot find weather information and forecast for my city! A: If you can find weather information for your city on Yahoo!, you can do too with Mesa Info Booth even if you cannot find your city by a name search. First, please find the Yahoo! location ID of your city by checking the URL. For example, the URL of Yahoo! weather for Singapore is http://weather.yahoo.com/forecast/SNXX0006.html. Then the location ID is SNXX0006 for the Singapore. Just input the location ID in Mesa Info Booth, you will get the weather information for your city!
Q: I select multiple technical indicators. But only one or two indciators show up in the chart. What is wrong? A: Because most cell phones have a small screen, we are not able to show all selected technical indicators in the chart. Please select only the indicator that is most important to you.
Q: Why doesn't the dictionary display definitions correctly? A: To display some languages correctly, your phone need to support the UTF-8 encoding and corresponding fonts.
Q: The dictionary never return when searching a word. But all other widgets work well with internet connection. What is wrong? A: The dictionary use a plain socket connection rather than HTTP. Please check your HTTP or WAP connection setting. If you setup a proxy, please disable it and try again.
Q: What are shortcut keys for playing Blackjack? A: The 5-way navigation buttons are shortcut keys. OK/Select: stand or new game, RIGHT: hit, LEFT: surrender, UP: double down, DOWN: split.
Q: What is Gobang? A: Gobang, gomoku, or in Englinsh connect five, is a strategy board game. It is traditionally played with go pieces (black and white stones) on a go board (19x19 intersections). Black plays first, and players alternate in placing a stone of their color on any empty intersection. The winner is the first player to get an unbroken row of five stones horizontally, vertically, or diagonally.
Q: What is Bubblet? A: Bubblet, bubble breaker, or Jawbreaker, is a puzzle game. The gameboard consists of a screen of differently-colored balls arranged in a matrix. There are five different colors: red, blue, green, yellow, and silver. The player then clicks on any two or more adjacent same-colored balls to eliminate them from the matrix, earning an appropriate amount of points in the process. The more balls eliminated at once, the higher the points added to the player's score. The game ends when the player has no more moves left; there are no more same-colored balls adjacent to each other. |
